Who Do We Turn To?

Walking home after what one could describe as a stressful day I was going over in my mind what I will do when I get back to my home to lift my spirits. I thought of eating my favorite food, or maybe turning on a good show. Well in the middle of my walk home, all of the sudden it started pouring down rain, the kind that can soak your socks through your shoes, but a feeling came over me. It was a feeling of peace, joy, a feeling of God with me. And then I realized, just a couple seconds ago I was looking for something to find comfort in, and all I needed to do was open my heart and take in God, he is where all my comfort lives. But I think we all do that, we look for something that can make us happy in the wrong spot, yes it is great to have a favorite show, or song, or activity that can bring you out of your funk, I have those, but that is not what we should turn to first. Whether or not we realize it, God’s love surrounds us always, and when we get stressed we forget that, we forget that all we need to do is take a second and just talk with Him.

Tell him why you are stressed, what is making you weary and He will listen, and help you through it. Standing there in the rain I couldn’t help but smile, because I felt Him when I least expected to, He made my heart take a moment, and just have that time with him to calm my soul. Think about the kind of joy those moments could bring to our lives when we aren’t stressed or in a bad mood? So this week I am going to take a Five Day challenge, and I encourage you to do this as well. I along with, many others, use social media, and electronic devices as distractions, or the place we first go to. For the next five days I will only use my phone to call or text, I will delete all social media. And I will only use my computer for Homework. I am doing this, because tonight and you may have felt this too, I realized that I am not giving God the time that he deserves, and I am not giving myself time with Him nor am I taking enough “me” time, without any interruptions.

SO. I challenge you to do this with me, and I will see you in 5 days.

Quote of the Day
