You Are Loved

"Love has been perfected among US in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts our fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us."

1 John 4;17-19

So what does this mean? This passage states that love has been perfected among us, not by us but by God. God's love for us is perfect, the only love that could ever be perfect. He says there is no fear in love but perfect love casts our fear. Why is this? We see being loved as an opportunity to be hurt, we see the pain in love so we will never fully love one another. That is why God's love for us is perfect, he knows we will mess up and cause our relationship with God to have some pain, but God's love is stronger and more willing than ours. That does't mean we can't strive to love like God, we should in fact. But the beauty of God's love is that it never fades, never weakens or disappears. His love is constant and will always be. And that is how we should love God in return.
